

9. MERCOSUR Platform for Education. This
is a Civil Society project for the improvement
of education in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile,
Paraguay and Uruguay. The objectives of this platform
include the analysis of the educative situation
in each country of the region giving particular
attention to inclusion, equity standards, and
civil society level of participation in educative
processes. It also aims to propose alternatives
to improve inclusion, equity and quality of education
to official authorities at national and regional
level. This platform is coordinated by eleven
NGO´s from participating countries in ongoing
dialogue with Education Ministries from the region.
10. Coordinator Member of Youth Employment
Summit (YES) Campaign - Uruguay. The
YES campaign was launched in Alexandria in 2002,
and its main goals are to build the capacity of
young people to create sustainable livelihoods
and to establish an entrepreneurial culture where
young people will work towards self employment.
The YES Uruguay project involves 10 NGO´s
and state organizations working in Youth Employment
and focuses on the investigation about youth employment
and eliminating the digital gap.
11. New apprenticeship communities promotion
program. This program aims to improve
the educational situation of young people with
fewer social and pedagogic opportunities. It scales
up a tested and validated methodology to decrease
school abandonment and repetition. The program
is being carried out in 20 cities in Uruguay and
Argentina. Iniciativa Latinoamericana is in charge
of its replication in the Uruguayan city of Paysandú.
The program is supported by International Youth
Foundation and Lucent technologies.
12. Project “Leadership training
for social emprendedorism”. This
project, created by ASHOKA Fellows Juan José
Meré and Alberto Croce, aims to create
opportunities for the empowerment of young leaders
in the region as well as identifying and scaling
up good practices in this area. Seven organizations
from Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Mexico,
Uruguay and Venezuela will participate in the
first stage of the project. These seven organizations
with a tested and validated curricula in Leadership
development will build a shared curricula of formation
and will test it in their countries. Supported
by ASHOKA, innovators for the public, 2005-2006.
